La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. was founded to address the needs of all underrepresented groups, especially those within the ever-growing Latino community. By conducting ourselves with pride and dignity, we promote equality and the overall advancement and enhancement of the quality of education for all. Founded on February 19th, 1982 at Cornell University, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity stands as one of the first and few organizations at an institution of higher learning committed to achieve just this.

With emphasis on the academic realm, La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity continually strives to increase the number of Latino students, faculty members, and administrators at their respective Universities and Colleges. Placing a great deal of importance on academics, we run many programs that aid in the guidance and completion of each students degree program. Addressing the importance to increase the Latino representation at institutions of higher learning, we run and partake in events that will promote a welcoming environment for new and current students. Our organization addresses the issue of Latino representation by supporting and sponsoring events that will promote a fun, yet productive environment for new and current students.

With a large group of able men, La Unidad Latina can more efficiently achieve its goals of promoting the Latino culture by sponsoring events ranging from fundraisers and cultural presentations to volunteer work. In order to accomplish the goals we have set for ourselves we stress recruitment and are looking for individuals with vision, determination, and pride in interested men.

By giving one another a strong sense of brotherhood based on support and respect, a functional, positive whole arises which can assume the position it seeks. We seek the role of leaders to meet the needs of the Latino community through cultural awareness, community service, and promotion of the Latino culture and people. Our organization, although Latino-based, consists of a very diverse membership.. Our brotherhood seeks to promote unity within ourselves for numerous ethnicities. Once this is achieved, we will have accomplished our goal as a fraternity to produce a college graduate who is mature, intelligent, socially active, and a culturally conscious individual; with our mutual support, upon completing a successful academic venture, this brother can now achieve equal success professionally. With the ever-developing graduate chapters of La Unidad Latina, the professional opportunities and network continues to grow.
